District needs will be addressed with referendum


“Keep it positive.”

That was the message delivered by the Dodgeville School Board Monday as they discussed preparing for the April referendum vote. The board is asking approval to add $2.5 million for three years to the budget.  Funds will be used to maintain class size and help fund sports and clubs.  The board points out no new construction is included in a request and approval will not permanently raise taxes.

If approved the estimated tax impact on a $200,000 home will be $490 per year.  Approval will set up a steady mill rate of $8.10-$8.11 for the three years, up from the present mill rate of $5.85.  Financial planners for the district say the steady mill rate will provide long term stability.

A successful referendum will help with:

-Staff retention and recruitment

-Fund staff development and programming...
