Cynthia Ann Ruff, affectionately known as Cindy to her friends and family, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and her closest friends on December 24, 2025, in her hometown of Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Born on June 28, 1946, to Sylvester and Avis Heeler, Cindy's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
Cindy's early years in Dodgeville laid the foundation for a life filled with love, compassion, and a deep sense of community. She grew up understanding the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy that comes from helping others. These values guided her through a fulfilling life and career, and even in her final moments, she exemplified grace and strength as she bravely faced cancer.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Cindy's legacy lives on through her children: Lane (Dusty) Honn of Alamosa, CO, Kelley (Mike) Davenport of Hondo, TX, and Kris (Rowdy) Knudsen of Columbia Falls, MT. Her six grandchildren, Travis (Leslie) Davenport, Trevor (Tamara) Davenport, Shiloh (Robert) Widhalm, Gabe (Emily) Knudsen, Colby Honn, and Zeb Honn, along with her five great-grandchildren, will forever cherish the memories and lessons she imparted. Cindy's brother, Phillip (Linda) Heeler, and her dear cousins also survive her, each carrying a piece of her heart with them.
Cindy's journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Larry, until his passing. Together, they built a beautiful life, and her dedication to her family was unwavering. She lovingly cared for her parents until their last days and held her son Lark Honn close to her heart until her own passing.
Professionally, Cindy's innate kindness led her to a career in caregiving. She also spent many years working at Lands' End, where she made countless cherished friendships. In her retirement, she found joy in working alongside Larry, managing their rental properties and snowplow business. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her generous spirit.
Cindy's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. She delighted in traveling, always eager to explore new places and create memories with friends and family. Her passion for collecting antiques was matched only by the stories she could tell about each treasured find. Above all, Cindy's greatest interest was her family. Her love was the glue that held them together, and her presence was the warmth that made every gathering special.
Cindy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of kindness, love, and selflessness. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the remarkable woman she was. Her influence will continue to be felt, and her memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Cindy Ann Ruff's story is not one of an ending, but a lasting reminder of the impact one life can have when lived with an open heart and open arms.
