Rally Saturday in Dodgeville
Dear Editor,
We don’t have kings in America! Please join Indivisible Southwest Wisconsin at the Rural No Kings Rally in Dodgeville Saturday June 14th from noon-2 p.m. to protest the abuses of the Trump Administration. We must stand up in defiance of the direction our democracy is taking to grab power and wealth for the top 1% of Americans and away from the rest of us. All 50 states in communities big and small will be participating in this peaceful protest.
I am an Iowa County community member for over 40 years. I am so unhappy with our current administration in Washington. The language used to talk about our veterans, our legal immigrants, and citizens at large is mean and polarizing. The decisions that have been made in this administration in the first 100 days have cut jobs, reduced services, increased the costs of many consumer items, deported legal Americans without due process, ignored judges orders, pardoned convicted criminals part of the Jan 6th attack , targeted media and anyone who doesn’t agree with the president, and not to mention, erode our civil rights and due process through various bills, executive orders and general disregard for human dignity.
If you have similar concerns, join us and bring a nonperishable or hygiene item for the food pantry. Speakers include: Representative Mark Pocan, Ben Gruber, Steve Michek, and Jessica Wieczorek.
Live music will be provided by Scott Steiber and Red Door Duo. The Dodgeville rally will gather at the green space next to the Wells Fargo Bank on Fountain Street and march to the Iowa County Courthouse. All communities are welcome to participate with us. Hope to see you there. For more information see NOKINGS.ORG.
