Platteville goes deep to outlast Dodgers
Dodgeville’s boys basketball team is known for being successful from three point land.
But Friday it was host Platteville that lit it up from deep and a flurry of three pointers the second half gave them momentum for a 73-67 SWC win.
Grady Poppy did the damage with three from beyond the arc as he rolled in 21 points.
The Hillmen kept the pressure on with six triples the second half,
Bryce Crubaugh-Lockard was Dodgeville’s top shooter with 19 points and Jayce Halverson added 12, all in the second half.
Crubaugh-Lockard helped the Dodgers to a 33-25 halftime advantage with 15 points.
“We played an excellent first half both offensively and defensively,” Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw said. “Platteville got back in the game with some stellar shooting in the second half. They had four threes in a short stretch that we ultimately couldn’t recover from.”
McGraw felt the effort he was looking for was there all game.
“As always our guys played their hearts out,” he said. “Unfortunately we were not as good on either end of the court in the second half.”
