From Iowa County Airport, Med Flight ready to transport critically ill and injured



Most of us only are only reminded that Med Flight is nearby when we hear it go out on a call. 

But for 10 years, Med Flight’s home has been the Iowa County Airport just outside of Mineral Point. 

“This is not only a hangar but also living quarters” for the doctor, nurse and pilot on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, said Dr. Andrew Cathers, medical director for UW Health Med Flight. 

Nurses and pilots work a 12-hour shift, while doctors work 12 or 24 hours. A mechanic is also on duty...
