Pierick, Gilbert J.

Gilbert J. Pierick, age 82 of Highland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 24, 1943, in Richland Center, Wisconsin, Gil was the son of the late Jack and Thelma Pierick. He married his childhood best friend, Majorie (McGuire), on July 9, 1963.

Gil was a lifelong grocer and proud owner/operator of Pierick's Food Center in Highland, Wisconsin, where he especially cherished the garden center. After selling the store in 1991, he continued his career in the grocery industry in various roles.   In retirement, Gil found great joy working at House on the Rock Golf Course—a job he often called his favorite.  Gil was an avid sportsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and cheering on Wisconsin's sports teams.  He had a very special place in his heart for Blackhawk Lake, where he spent countless hours entertaining and sharing stories with anyone willing to listen. Above all, Gil was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—never missing a chance to brag about their accomplishments.

Gil was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws Robert and Frances McGuire; his brothers Gene Pierick and John Pierick; his sister-in-law Donna (Vern) Faber; and his brothers-in-law John Norgel, Tom (Jean) McGuire, Jim McGuire, and Lee Weber.

Gil is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marjorie Pierick, and their five children: Thomas (Jean) Pierick of Highland, Tamara (Joe) Friar of Prairie du Chien, Susan (Paul) Brauer of Green Bay, Angie (Dale) Jahr of Deerfield, and Dave (Heidi) Pierick of Montfort. Gil was a cherished grandfather to sixteen grandchildren: Megan (Andy) Dailey, Nic (CJ) Pierick, Matt Friar, Eric Friar, Braydon Friar, Jenna Friar, Nolan (Betsy) Brauer, Keaton Brauer, Kelsey (Michael) Allen, Aaron (Hallie) Jahr, Austin (Kaitlyn) Jahr, Taylor Jahr, Gavin Jahr, Graham Pierick, Eden Pierick, and Andi Pierick. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren—Remington, Eastin, Dax, Ellie, Emersyn, and Adley—with three more on the way. Gil is also survived by his brothers Jim (Cindy) Pierick and Pat (Penny) Pierick; his sisters Kathy (Tom) Murphy, Mary Jo (Kent Scheuerell) Norgel, and Jan (Mark) Smith; his brothers-in-law Patrick (Patty) McGuire, Don (Patty) McGuire, and Dan McGuire; and his sisters-in-law Lynda Weber, Jean (Mike) Popp, and Jean McGuire. He will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church, 726 Main St, Highland. The Memorial Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will commence at St. Anthony Cemetery with Fr. Tafadzwa Kushamba officiating.
