Panthers in big game mode vs Boscobel
Both teams ran 38 plays but the results were far different.
For Boscobel the result was 100 yards, 113 through the airways and a negative 13 on the ground.
For Iowa-Grant the result was 316 yards, 202 passing and 114 over the turf.
The difference was also found in the final score that saw the Panthers outpoint the Bulldogs 43-0.
It could not have gone better for Panther signal caller Brock Hinderman as he hit on all 10 of his tries for 198 yards. Hayden Aultman took a few snaps and was one for three for four yards.
Hinderman and Landon Friesen got the Panthers on the board with a 23 yard scoring pass play. Next was a Hinderman to Owen Wyatt pass play hat made it 14-0. The quarter ended with the Panthers ahead 22-0 when Aultman scored on a 23 yard run.
Friesen hauled in a pass that spanned 38 yards and a score in the second quarter. Cole Schauff got in from the four that made it 37-0 at the half.
Hinderman had one more scoring toss in him and this one went to Ty Cutts for 51 yards in the third frame that sent the score to the 43-0 finale.
Friesen and Cutts both had two catches for 61 yards. Wyatt grabbed three for 45 yards. Sam Lundell caught one for 15. Also with one catch were Jonah Wetter and Schauff for eight yards and Jack Whitaker for four.
Schauff ran for 80 yards on 13 attempts. Hinderman gained eight on one try. Aultman totaled 24 on three carries and Brody Lindner two on two attempts.
Panther coach Hayden Link felt discipline and a strong defense was the guiding thrust in the win.
“I think for us it was a matter keeping our eyes disciplined,” Link said. “It all starts up front and our defensive line did a great job.”
He also pointed out the Panthers had the edge with a strong mental effort.
“To a certain degree, staying true to ourselves and not overthinking things proved to be why we did anything well,” Link said.
The final regular season opponent will come to Garry Crull Field from a few miles down the road in Riverdale.
“Riverdale has really rallied these past few weeks and become a team that nobody wants to play,” Link points out. “Credit goes to their coaches for that. They have a crack staff and they will come to Livingston looking for a street fight. We've got a buckle down ourselves and stay true to what got us here.”
