Esser’s 23 paces Highland in win over P/C
Highland’s girls basketball team faced defensive pressure from Potosi/Cassville Tuesday but the good news is they were able to handle it.
The Cardinals did it so well that they claimed a 62-39 win in a Six Rivers West match-up to open conference play.
The Cardinals had a trio of girls in double figures, led by Adilyn Esser who had 23, pouring in 16 the second half. She was supported by Sophia Tarrell and Celia Oleson as both put in 14. Tarrell knocked down four three pointers and had all her points the first half. Oleson had a pair of triples and scored 12 the second half.
The Cardinals had eight three pointers on the night.
“We faced an aggressive man to man but we did what we had to do,” coach Josh Tarrell said.
“Sophia had a strong first half and Celia picked it up in the second with Adilyn getting hot the second half too,” Tarrell said. “Caitlyn Fritsch gave us good minutes off the bench and was strong in the post. Lily Tarrell also gave us a spark.”
“It was a good team win,” Tarrell said. “The girls played hard and played well.”
