Mueller, David R.



David R. Mueller, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday April 12, 2025, at Upland Hills Health Hospital in Dodgeville. Born on May 25, 1955, in Chicago, David was the son of Robert and Mary (Pasek) Mueller.

David spent much of his life in Chicago before relocating to Montfort 15 years ago to be closer to family. David pursued a degree in Criminal Justice at Lewis College in Chicago, a degree he later completed at UW – Platteville. Passionate about the arts, he was active with the Chicago art community, and had a deep love for music, particularly jazz. He was especially proud of his extensive vinyl record collection. He loved cooking, skiing, camping, biking, photography, and was an avid reader belonging to the Platteville book club.

In addition to his artistic side, David was also a Tai Chi instructor for over 20 years, and enjoyed traveling. He visited numerous countries across Europe, China, and Canada. A skilled mechanic in his younger years, he enjoyed working on his own vehicles and handling maintenance and repairs himself. He was also gifted in technology, (Mueller Tech Works, Ltd.) offering troubleshooting and technical support to individuals and local businesses,

While living in Chicago, David worked for many years for the Art Institute of Chicago and Cohen Financial. After moving to Montfort, David found joy in life on the farm and spent many peaceful hours fly fishing, reading, and listening to jazz and classical music. Locally, David was employed at Lands’ End and most recently at Cummins.

David is survived by his sister, Helen Klaas; 6 nieces and nephews: Paul Klaas, Jonathan Klaas, Theresa (Jed) Wachter, Rachel (Andrew) Spurley, Ann Marie Klaas, and Matthew Klaas; 7 great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins, especially his cousin, Paul living in New York. They spent many happy times together, enjoying mutual interests, attending concerts and eating good food.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday May 25, 2025, David’s 70th birthday, at Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort. Following the Celebration of Life, David’s family invites everybody to join them for food and fellowship at Cottonwood Supper Club located at 4716 Green River Road, Fennimore, WI 53809.
