Daniel William Sullivan, age 83 of Dodgeville, died surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, April 3, 2025 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Dan was born to John and Rita Sullivan in Waterloo, Iowa in 1942.
He married the love of his life, Terry Syverson, and together they raised 2 children: Lisa and Darrin. For 35 years, Dan worked as a sales supervisor for Trausch Baking Company(Sunbeam bread) with routes throughout southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. He and Terry had several greenhouses and would often sell at various farmers markets in the region. After retiring from Trausch, Dan worked as a custodian for the Dodgeville School District for another 10 years. Once he retired for real, Dan found countless ways to stay busy throughout retirement.
Dan is survived by his wife Terry; his daughter Lisa (Ben) Stewart; his son Darrin (Katie) Sullivan; and his son Terry Knebel from a previous marriage; 6 grandchildren Natalie, Cooper, Marley and Parker Stewart and Brady and Brenna Sullivan; his sisters Jean Huff (John), Rita Ann Ahrens (Gerald) and Peggy Sullivan (Larry Tyler); along with many nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents John and Rita Sullivan, his sister Fran Rosauer, his brother-in-law Chet Rosauer, his brother-in-law Gerald Taylor, his father-in-law Kenny and his mother-in-law Gerry French, and his son Timothy Knebel.
Dan will be lovingly remembered as a kind and generous man who could strike up a conversation with anyone and make friends with nearly everyone. He will be dearly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 8, 2025 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. A visitation was held from 9:30 am until 10:50 am on Tuesday at the church. Private family burial was held on Wednesday in Eastside Cemetery in Elkader, Iowa.
