Barbara Elizabeth (Tarrell) Linscheid, 85, of Highland, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 13, 2025, after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 17, 1939, in Cuba City, WI, Barb was the daughter of Jack and Cecilia Tarrell. She married the love of her life, Bill Linscheid, on November 12, 1960. Together, they shared 64 years of farming, camping, dancing, going to the casino, and cruising around in the Gator. Barb and Bill faithfully attended mass and Novena. She was also a member of the Highland Rosary Makers.
Barb was a poet, known for her clever rhymes about anyone lucky enough to be celebrated. A lover of games, she was always up for a quick shuffle of the deck. Whether bidding more than she should or shooting the moon, she was always a winner.
Barb's parade floats and Halloween costumes were legendary—always a hit, and a true reflection of her creativity. As everyone knows, "They were GREAT in '58."
Barb loved spending time with her grandchildren, following their activities or playing cards; she treasured every moment. Surrounded by grandkids, she played her final hand.
Barb is survived by her husband, Bill Linscheid; five children: Linda (Doug) Hebgen, Robert (Tammie) Linscheid, John (JJ) Linscheid, Laurie (Gary) Pustina, and Lisa (John) Hebgen; 11 grandchildren: Matthew Hebgen, Megan (Tony) Bunkleman, Wittnee Linscheid, Makenzee (Matt) Gundersen, Logan (Nickie) Linscheid, John Ross (Mackenzie) Linscheid, Spencer Linscheid, Alicia (Andy) Bockhop, Laci (Kyle) Pustina Klein, Grace Pustina, and Owen Hebgen; 13 great-grandchildren: Brooks and Elliott Bunkleman, Benson and Eysley Biggerstaff, Chase Linscheid, Everlee, Aria, and Jackson Linscheid, Tenleigh and Boston Bockhop, Hallie, Frankie, and Nellie Klein. Barb also leaves behind her siblings: Sue Brom, Ann Oleson, John Tarrell, and Bonnie Sahm; many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Cecilia Tarrell; her parents-in-law, Alphons and Marie Linscheid; and many other beloved family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Iowa County Cancer Coalition are greatly appreciated.
