Alt, Patricia (Pat) A.



Patricia (Pat) A. Alt, of Lone Rock, WI, passed away on April 12, 2025 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, WI, surrounded by her family.  She was the 3rd of 7 children born to Charles Campbell Funk and Lena (Keller) Funk on December 16, 1942.  She married Ronald (Ron) Alt on May 2, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richland Center.

 Pat is survived by her husband, Ron; her 5 daughters; Barbara (Joseph) Louis, Laura (Claude) Mertzenich, Diane (David) Atteln, Lisa (Thomas) Alt-Miller and Angela (Todd) Clary; her grandchildren, Jeffrey (Jenny), Daniel (Jolean), Steven (Sarah) and Marcus Louis, Aaron (Eleanor), Isaac, Maria and Adam Mertzenich, Samuel and Benjamin (Nicole) Atteln, Alivia (Collen Vogel) and Leah Miller, Shannon (Cody) Kintz, Meghan (Thomas) Bernards and Caitlin (Jordan Manley) Clary; great-grandchildren, Emmit, Emmarie and Farrah Louis, Alice Kuderer, Baby Louis to be born in October; her siblings, Charles (Helen) Funk, Kathy Lins, Cheryl (Ronald) Statz and Doris Mernack; many nieces, nephews and brothers/sisters-in-law, best friend, Alice Hatfield, many friends from Lands’ End, and several other friends and family.   

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dale; a sister, Marian Meier; grandchildren Baby and Joel Henry Mertzenich; parents-in-law Henry and Julia Alt, and many other relatives and friends. 

Pat was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, served on the Parish Council and taught Catechism for many years. Pat served on the Lone Rock Village Board and also worked as an election official. She was employed for over 25 years at Lands’ End in Dodgeville.  Pat was an amazing woman with great internal strength, kindness, and many talents.  She and Ron built and remodeled several homes and apartments all the while she was working full time.  She was an expert seamstress and made or assisted in the construction of all 5 daughter’s wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses in addition to a multitude of other sewing projects, large and small. She was very generous sharing her talents and treasure. She always had a smile and a positive attitude. She was an extremely hard worker and led by example to her daughters and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and pie baker, and enjoyed teaching those skills to her granddaughters. She enjoyed making homemade chicken soup with noodles from scratch whenever a family member was sick. Pat loved woodworking and helped her daughters with many home improvement projects. She had a green thumb and enjoyed taking care of her sunroom full of plants. She also loved watching and feeding the birds out her window. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lone Rock, WI with burial in the St. John the Evangelist Cemetery in Spring Green, WI. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2025, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 10:00 until the time of service at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lone Rock, WI.  Online condolences available at www.staffordfuneralhomes.com  The Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
