Jacobson, Edith (Edie) Lewis



Edith (Edie) Lewis Jacobson age 87 of Ridgeway, passed away on Monday October 28, 2024.

Edie was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dodgeville to Gomer and Lavon (Love) Lewis. She graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1955. On December 29, 1956, she married her High School sweetheart DuWayne J Jacobson. She was a member of the St. Bridget’s Church in Ridgeway. She worked at Carnes Corp. in Verona, WI, Stauffer Cheese in Blue Mounds.  Keeping her and DuWayne busy during the mid-seventies and eighties they ran the Silver Dollar Bar in Ridgeway.  Many good times and more importantly many good friends were made there.   Edie also worked at Ayers Furniture up until April 28, 2016 when she finally decided to give retirement a try.

She loved her Green Bay Packers and her U.W. Badger Basketball and Football.

She is survived by her beloved children Douglas (Tonya) Jacobson of Verona and Dawn (Bobby) Sullivan of Dodgeville; her grandchildren Brady Cullen, Lydia Jacobson & Reed Jacobson, Danny (Alex) Sullivan & Cole (Kara) Sullivan; two great grandchildren Paisley Love & Jennings Joseph Sullivan.  She dearly loved them all and told them very often. her sister-in-law Connie (Gary) Hendrickson of Dodgeville; her brother-in-law Donnie Murphy of Dodgeville; her aunt Jackie Chambers of Hollandale and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  But especially her gambling buddies Jackie Hurd, Lois Lease and Lana Dyreson and many other dear friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws Dewey & Francis Jacobson, her husband DuWayne, her beloved sister Jeannette Evans, her brothers Alan (Buzz) Lewis and Cole Edward Lewis, her sister-in-law Delores (Toots) Murphy and her “angel grandson” Kaydon James Jacobson.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 2, 2024 at ST. BRIDGET’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Ridgeway WI. Inurnment will be held in St. Bridget’s Catholic Cemetery following service. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.

The family would like to invite everyone to Neighbors Bar in downtown Ridgeway after the funeral lunch to share stories and reminisce about Edie, from 2 - 4.
