Schuler, Allen V.



Allen V. Schuler, age 79 of New Glarus passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at his home.  He was born on December 23, 1944 the son of Vincent and Mary Juanita (Oates) Schuler.  Al left school to begin working, but was adopted into the Monticello High School Class ’63.  On June 26, 1965 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Ramseier.  Al operated the Skelly Station in New Glarus from 1969 to 1972 and then the New Glarus Welding Shop from 1972 to 2015 now owned and operated by his grandson Brock.  Service calls especially to thaw water lines were the jobs he liked the most.  He was a member of the Swiss Dancers with his wife Cheryl and the New Glarus Lions Club.  For many many years Al’s routine included breakfast at the Towne Edge and coffee at the Co-Op to catch up on the latest town news.  Most of all he was a proud father and grandfather.

Al is survived by his daughter Rae-Allyn (Dean) Schuler-Reeson, grandchildren Brock Allen (Corrin) Schuler-Reeson and Haley Cheryl (Austin) Schuler-Reeson Summers, step-great-grandchildren Connor, Aidan, and Brigid, sister-in-law Carmel, nieces, nephews, and longtime employee Andy Strack.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Cheryl on February 10, 2021, brother and sister-in-law Neal & Mary Edith Schuler, sister and brother-in-law Donna & Ben Riemenapp, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Karla & Jim Karrow.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024 at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Ave., New Glarus, WI.
