Wright’s Feed Service, owned by Al Wright is celebrating a milestone achievement of being in business for 40 Years. There have been minor changes and upgrades over the past 40 years, but the commitment to service and community is one that has remained steadfast.
Barneveld Feed and Grain business was purchased in March 1984 and renamed Wright’s Feed Service, Inc. In June 1984, the Purina feed mill, located in the heart of the village, was leveled by the Barneveld tornado. Being a new business owner, it was quite a devasting event, but Al remained positive though all aspects of navigating the life changing event. During those first months following the tornado, Al credits other feed businesses from surrounding communities that offered to help after the cataclysmic storm. “Ken Von Ruden was the manager at Dodgeville Agri-Service, and as soon as the tornado had hit, Ken reached out. Irv Steinhauer from Mount Horeb had Irv’s Feed & Supply and he also reached out. Those two businesses reached out immediately,” he said. “We were able to run through Dodgeville Agri-Service. They were gracious. We’d get feed in, and then we’d go over and deliver out of there. We kept things going,” Wright said. There was no question that the business would be rebuilt.
