Coyier, Gary R.

Gary R. Coyier, age 69, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the farm on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. He was born on August 6, 1953 in Madison, Wisconsin as the fourth son of Robert and Darlene (Grunow) Coyier. Gary was united in marriage to Betty Hanson on August 11, 1973 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Gary was a proud Marine, stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, North Carolina. After service to his country, he worked many years on the family farm alongside his dad and brother, but eventually Gary and Betty settled down and built a new and forever home on their own farm on Lost Grove Road, just outside of Mineral Point, where they enjoyed gardening, farming, hunting, taking care of their animals, and just tinkering around the farm. He was always willing to lend a helping hand while asking for nothing in return. He was a builder and a jack of all trades; there were very few problems that he couldn't eventually fix and very few things that he didn't know something about. Gary also enjoyed many special family vacations up north and to Emerald Isle, North Carolina, close to where he was stationed as a Marine. where he and Betty enjoyed reminiscing and sharing with their family stories about the days gone by. He was especially proud of having done electrical work on Harrier jets during his time in the service, and would always make a special trip to a memorial in their honor where one was on display.

He worked at Quantum Devices in Barneveld for over 26 years as Facilities Manager until retiring in 2021. He was truly an asset to the company and made many great life-long friends during his time there, and always felt blessed to do the work he did.

Gary is survived by his wife, Betty of 49 years, sons, Chad (Sara) and Jason (Ashley), his mother, Darlene Coyier and his grandchildren Peyton, Isaac, Bresnia Kaye, Braeden, and Audrey; brother Bruce (Mary) Coyier; sister Sheri Coyier; brothers and sisters in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Robert Coyier, twin brothers, father and mother in-law, George and Patricia Hanson, Great Grandparents, sister in-law, Peggy Hanson, Great niece, Lilyana Thomas, and brother in-law, Mark Hulbert.

A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Pointer Pantry or the Mineral Point Rescue Squad would be appreciated.
