Gluege, Rosemary “Rosie” Jane


Rosemary “Rosie” Jane Gluege, age 87, of Livingston passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Southwest Health Center in Platteville, WI. Rosie was born July 13, 1935, to Gustave and Wally (Richter) Gluege.

Rosie worked for the Livingston Co-op for 47 1/2 years. She was the first female bus driver for Iowa-Grant and the first female volunteer for the Livingston Fire Department. Rosie also served as the Village Clerk, Village Trustee, Rock Church Cemetery Secretary and Treasurer and was on their board. She was the United Methodist Church Treasurer, was on the Library Board, and was an election worker.  Rosie’s dedication to her community was acknowledged by receiving the Citizen of the Year award for the village of Livingston. The family would like to thank all the friends, neighbors, doctors, and nurses at Southwest Hospital and all the staff with Grant Co. Hospice for all the wonderful compassion and care she received. 

Rosie is survived by her brother Robert Gluege of Franklin WI, and sister Mildred Albrecht of Madison WI, and by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Walter, Alvin, Leonard, Richard Gluege and Lorraine Matts. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday July 1, 2023, at the Livingston United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Rock Church Cemetery, rural Livingston. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday June 30, 2023, at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church Saturday morning.
