Carr, Marilyn Joan
Marilyn Joan Carr, passed away peacefully June 12, 2023, on what would have been her beloved husband’s 93rd birthday. Marilyn will be remembered for her kindness, class, and being a cheerleader to all.
Marilyn was born in Neola, Iowa on September 9, 1933, in the depths of the Great Depression on a farm south of Neola, Iowa. The youngest of Tony and Mae Fischer’s six children, she graduated with a degree in Home Economics from Iowa State University. There she also met the love of her life, Dennis Carr, and they were married on June 29, 1957.
Together, Dennis and Marilyn moved to Montfort, Wisconsin where Marilyn was a big part of her husband’s large animal veterinary practice. Together they raised five children: Mary Carr Lee, Kevin Carr (Joy), Connie Carr Paradies (Ron), Kelly Ritchie (Ron), and Mark Carr (Maria). Marilyn adored her eight grandchildren, Tony Ritchie (Holly), Taylor Lee, Melissa Carr (Luke Moris), Brett Carr (Kristin Hammer), Kaitlin Solomon (Jake), Fischer, Culhan and Monica Carr and her six great grandchildren: Laila, Kellen, Parker, Dash, Brooks, and Eli. All her grandchildren had much fun teasing her, asking if they were her ‘favorite’ and she always denied so, saying she loved everyone equally the same.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Dennis Carr, and siblings – sisters Helen Claire Murphy and Rosemary Schwertley and brothers Cornelius, Paul, and Leo Fischer, and is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023, before a Memorial Mass at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort. Burial services will be at the Rock Church Cemetery in rural Livingston and followed by a luncheon reception held at My Turn North Livingston. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Marilyn and Dennis Carr scholarship at CFSW Gift Processing, P.O. Box 81, Platteville, WI 53818. The Soman-Larson Funeral Home of Montfort is assisting the family and online condolences may be made at www.larsonfuneralhomes.com.
The family would like to thank Marilyn’s excellent caregivers at Platteville’s Park Place Assisted Living and the Tri State Dialysis Center. So many have said to us ‘she was one of the nicest, easiest people to ever know and care for.’ Marilyn would want everyone to know she felt the same about them.
