Tetzlaff, James Robert


James Robert Tetzlaff, 76 of Wautoma, WI, formerly of Redgranite and the Madison area, passed away peacefully at ThedaCare Medical Center in Berlin on May 25, 2023. James was born in Berlin, Wisconsin. On May 10, 1947, the younger of two children of Robert and Priscilla (Mastricola) Tetzlaff. After completing his junior year of high school at Edgewood, Jim graduated from Madison West in 1965 where he excelled in both baseball and track. After high school Jim joined the Army Reserves (44th General Hospital May of 1966 until 1978).

On May 11, 1968 Jim married his wife of 55 years, Lois Legris, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Pine Bluff, Wisconsin. The couple then settled in Cross Plains, WI and started their family. In 1978, Jim and Lois moved to Redgranite, WI where they began the adventure of running the successful supper club, Tetzlaff's Granite Inn, for 20 years. After the restaurant business Jim and Lois began selling real estate. They worked for Eagan Agency and then Jim became a co owner of Waushara Realty. Jim also worked in the blasting and drilling field, JMC, Waushara Country Club, Two Oaks Golf Course, anywhere he could be around people.

Jim was very active in the community. He was involved in the Fresh Start Program, the Lions Club, AMVETS, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, the Village Board, coached youth softball, and was a volunteer firefighter in Redgranite for 20 years. Jim enjoyed golfing, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and ice fishing.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lois, his sister Carol (Rodger) Hargis, three children, Jennifer (Scott) Argall, Alex (Alissa) Tetzlaff, and Jim (Stefani) Tetzlaff. Seven grandchildren, Jordyn (Trevor) Wendhausen, Bailey (Tyler) Brunkow, Joey (Katie) Dolphin, Brett and Cole Tetzlaff, Jimmy (Dayna) and Adysen Tetzlaff. Four great grandchildren, Treyson and Brookstyn Brunkow, and Hadlee and Halstyn Wendhausen; other relatives, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Priscilla Tetzlaff, mother and father in law, Ray and Ellen Legris, brother in law, Mike Hanks, sister in law Janice Pankow and niece, Kim Brennan.
