When he wasn't driving trucks or plowing snow Henry enjoyed getting together with family and sporting events with friends. He enjoyed his "Sunday drives" to places close to home like Devil's Lake and farther trips to Dauphin Island/Mobile, Alabama, the Florida Panhandle and of course yearly trips to the Louisville Kentucky Truck Show.
Henry is survived by his wife of 50 years Myrna (Loy) Schaaf; his children son Gerald (Kay), grandchildren Andrea (Mark) Finley, Jenny (Chad) Novak, great-grandchildren Natalie and Grady Finley, Tatum, Layla, Dane and Adley Novak, his daughter Angela (Dan) Cutler, grandchildren Riely (Brittni Gleason) Cutler, Kate Cutler, great-grandchildren Oliver Cutler, Bradley Wagner and Evan Gleason, his son Terrence (Lance) granddaughter, Taylor Coss, his daughter April Schaaf-Jozefowski; his napping buddy Pepper; and his aunt Charlotte Douglas; his brothers and sisters Mike Schaaf, Martha (Dennis) Hoeger, Demetrius (Michele), Elaine (LaVaughn) Eiseman, Lois Ann Johnson(Kevin Nelson), Anita Schaaf, Samuel (Sandy), Vincent (Ellen), Frank (Amber), Loretta Schaaf, Monica (Ron) Riege; his brothers and sisters-in-laws Sharon Kitsemble, Donna Evans, Jeff (Mel) Loy, Idell (Don) Myers, Mike (Pam) Loy, Patty (Rich) Reinke, Linda (Curt) Moriva, Tim (Yvette) Loy, Randy Loy, Emmett (Beth) Loy Jr., Wendy Loy, Tammie (Steve) Winkers, Marc (Marcia) Loy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry was preceded in death by his son-in-law Nicholas Jozefowski (3/29/2023), his parents Vincent and Florence Schaaf, his siblings Karl, Bridget, and Marita Schaaf, his sister-in-law Suzanne Schaaf, his father and mother-in-law Emmett and Kate Loy, brothers-in-law Garry Evans and George Kitsemble, his riding buddy Cookie and many other family members.
Henry's family would like to thank all our family and friends that have helped care for him over the years. We would also like to thank his doctors Grunow, Seman, Mullvain, Lapeak and Fertikh, the staff at Dodgeville Family Medicine, Dodgeville Oncology, St. Mary's Hospital, UHH Hospital, Dodgeville Rehab and Hospice, SSM Health, staff and drivers at SWCAP Lift.
Per Henry's wishes no formal services will be held.
A Celebration of Life may be held by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family will be gifted to organizations including SWCAP Lift, Mineral Point Fire Department and Dodgeville EMS.
