Karen W. Day, age 81, of Highland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Harvest Guest Home in Richland Center. Karen was born in Dodgeville on December 11, 1941, the daughter of Irvin and Elsie (Fritsch) Day. She grew up in Cobb and graduated from Cobb High School in 1960. She received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. After graduation, she worked for American Family Insurance.

She married Virgil Tomas on December 8, 1962 and the couple had two children and farmed in the Highland/Cobb area. After divorcing in 1971 Karen worked for Bloomfield Manor as a Cook and CNA. She later worked at Gray's Nursing Home in Platteville and then returned to Bloomfield Manor. She also worked at Janlin Plastics and Stauffer's Cheese and Mineral Point Living Center. Some of her favorite pastimes were sewing, crafting, fishing and rides through Blackhawk Lake and Governor Dodge parks.

She was preceded in death by her parents

Karen is survived by two daughters, Teresa Tomas and Virginia (Patrick) Minter, both of Highland; five grandchildren, Nicole Gies, Travis Tomas and Megan, Jennifer, and Ryan Minter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at the Lulloff-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home in Dodgeville. Pastor Steven Schneider will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Cobb. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 A.M.
