Fill the board vacancies
By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
Currently there are four seats on the board without a candidate. Those are District 9 (Dodgeville city wards 3 and 4), District 10 (Dodgeville city wards 5 and 6), District 11 (Dodgeville city wards 7 and 8) and District 20 (Dodgeville town ward 4, Linden town ward 1 and Linden village).
Granted, serving on a board or council takes a lot of time and work, but someone will have to do it. Last election, there was a scattering of write-ins for a city seat, and after cards were cut, Brit Grimmer was the one filling the seat. Brit served until he moved, and was very involved. He served the county and his constituents well.
No doubt there will be write-ins for the vacant seats. It would be ideal if interested persons announced their intent to be a write-in soon so the seats will go to someone willing to serve.
What is not needed, is someone forced into serving because they got a couple votes or another tie comes about. These areas need representation and the board has to be at full strength to be affective.
We encourage people interested in serving to declare soon.
