My motivation to move around more
By Brooke Bechen-bbechen@thedodgevillechronicle.com
have decided to get healthier this year. It is an unofficial New
Year's Resolution, one I'm hoping we can both keep.
We have been doing well so far, although it has only been a couple
of weeks. We took advantage of a deal at a local gym in Mt.
Horeb and received a free month of membership. We have been
exercising regularly, and we've both made comments to each
other on how much better we feel at the end of the day.
I have also been spearheading an effort in our household to eat
better. Instead of sugary snacks, I've been purchasing fruit.
Instead of soda (even though I still occasionally sneak in my
favorite Diet Coke), we've been filling up a pitcher with water
and drinking that from the fridge.
Within the first week of just "moving around more," we started
to notice the difference.
Although we still have a lot of work to do to achieve our goals
on our health journey, it has helped immensely to have him at my
side. I was convinced we wouldn't need to buy sessions with a
trainer because we have each other. And I was right!
I encourage you to make a change, even if just a little one, and
try to move around a little bit more each day, maybe even try a
banana instead of a cookie.
And if you have a motivator or someone to help you on your
journey, take advantage of them! I'm so thankful I have someone
who is able to push me and stand by my side through mine.
