Eagles jump started on way to win
In her case it is starting the Golden Eagles in the right direction. Thursday the young guard led the Eagles to a 65-26 win over Belleville in the Barneveld tournament with 20 points, 15 of them in the first half.
Senior Madi Laube had a steady performance on her way to 12 points as she scored in each of the four quarters.
McKenzie Sporle just missed double figures with nine points. Nine of the 12 girls who played got into the scorebook.
The Eagles led 17-5 after the first period and moved that to 36-18 halftime advantage. Their 21-4 third quarter run put the game away.
"It was pretty much decided in the third quarter," said Barneveld coach Jim Myers. "That quarter has been our nemesis in the past but the girls are not letting that happen and did a good job of taking away what Belleville wanted to do."
"We had good balance and Rachel Slaney was tough around the basket with some nice rebounds and steals," Myers said. "Our first group is getting after it well and we are getting solid contributions off the bench."
