Snook, Lewis W.

Lewis W. Snook, age 79, of Mason City, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit - Mason City. Lewis Wesley Snook was born on October 15, 1932 in Wayne County, Iowa, the son of Arden and Maple (Patterson) Snook. He attended school in Chariton, Iowa, graduating in 1951. He was united in marriage to Shirley Sherman on June 21, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Lew was manager of the Dodgeville Piggly Wiggly Store in the 1970s when it was located on the north end of Dodgeville. He worked at Piggly Wiggly in Mason City until going to work at the East Hy-Vee in Mason City until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mason City. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was survived by his wife, Shirley Snook of Mason City, Iowa; children, Marlene Jefferis and husband Curt of Hutchison, Kansas, Deborah Snook of Mason City, Iowa, Wes Snook and wife Joanie of Ankeny, Iowa and Connie Handt and husband Brad of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren, Michael Snook, Samantha Snook, Bobbie Snook, Nicole Johnson and Brandon Handt; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Wendell Snook and wife Ginger of Superior, Arizona, Arden Snook and wife Londa of Joshua Tree, California and Ronald Snook and wife Marsha of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 27 at the Major Erickson Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Stein of the First Baptist Church officiating. A gathering of family and friends was held from 5 -7 p.m. Monday, March 26 at the funeral home. Inurnment was in Derby, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the Lewis W.
