Kroll, Virginia Mae

Virginia Mae Kroll, age 82, of Cobb, died on Friday morning, April 1, 2011 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation in rural Dodgeville. She was born on January 5, 1929 in Stitzer, the daughter of Victor and Kate (Yanna) Rasque. Virginia married Earl Kroll on May 3, 1949 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort. Virginia graduated from Livingston High School and went to work for Parker Pen in Fennimore. Following her marriage to Earl, they rented a farm in Highland for three years. They relocated to Edmund, where they rented a farm for another three years with her sister and brother-in-law until purchasing their own farm. Virginia helped Earl farm the 420 acres in rural Edmund for over 50 years until moving to Cobb in 1997. She liked to go dancing. Virginia was a great cook and a wonderful baker; she was proud of her fourth place finish in the Iowa County bake off. Virginia was a wonderful seamstress, and she loved gardening and working in her flowers beds. She was a member of the Edmund Homemakers and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort.
Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Earl of Cobb; five children, Cheryl Kroll and Randall Kroll and special friend Roxanne Moermond, both of Madison, Dixie Kroll of Dallas, Texas, Kevin Kroll of Montfort and Kurt and his wife Amy Kroll of Dodgeville; and a grandson Mitch Kroll. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Dorothy Kartman.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Montfort with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, April 4 at the Soman-Larson Funeral Home in Montfort, where a scripture service was held at 8:00 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund is being established in loving memory of Virginia Mae Kroll.
