NFL Star Erickson is about giving back

The Inaugural Alex and Kelsi Erickson Golf Outing for Hodan Community Services turned into a truly memorable "inclusive event" on Saturday, May 19.
Early morning mist turned into a mostly sunny, late morning and afternoon...terrific weather for golfing! 144 golfers (including honorary hosts/sponsors, Alex and Kelsi, as well as two HCS client-employee golfers) teed off at the Dodge Point Country Club near Mineral Point beginning at 10:30 a.m. and concluding rounds at about 4:30 p.m. At three different holes, client-employees greeted, thanked, and cheered for each golfer who was participating in this charity event.
In the evening, following a Happy Hour, a steak and chicken dinner was served to over 250 attendees, including 17 HCS client-employees (and their families) who enthusiastically participated in the night's activities which were emceed by local Monroe radioman Kent McConnell. Guest speakers, who thanked event attendees, volunteers, sponsors, and donors, included Alex and Kelsi Erickson, Bob Boyle (HCS Board Chair), Tom Schmit (HCS Executive Director), and Krista Blosch and Jenni McConnell (HCS client-employees).
Golfing awards were presented, including to the winning golfing foursome: Jon Shaffer, Wade Harker, John Crook, and Jay Olson. Many door prizes donated by local businesses were awarded. A 50/50 raffle drawing was held as well as a silent auction of 26 donated items, including autographed sports memorabilia. The evening concluded with a live auction of an Alex Erickson framed jersey.
All told, this Inaugural event's activities raised over $20,000 for Hodan Community Services! So many people commented on how special this day and evening were... especially the inclusiveness of the adults with disabilities and their families. Most people in attendance were already marking their calendars for next year's Second Annual Event on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
