project moves forward
|The Iowa-Grant School Board moved ahead with its high school roofing project and accepted the low bid with rights to negotiate.|
Low bidder was Rock Church, which operates their business within the district. Their bid was $467,000.
Other bids were $497,628 from Midwest of Dodgeville, $868,000 from JR and Company and $916,132 from Roofed Right of Kansas City.
After discussion with HSR, the engineer recommended accepting the low bid and negotiating some of the phases of the project to see if there can be some cost savings. He added that the bids came in somewhat higher than the estimate HSR provided, so his company will present a list of cost savings ideas that will be shared with the board and the contractor.
The board accepted the bid and will set up a meeting to negotiate. A special meeting was set for Monday, March 27.
The board also went over the proposed bathroom renovation quotes with a representative from Winona Controls, who provided preliminary cost breakdowns. He and the HSR engineer will fine tune the prices and report at the March 27 meeting....
